Don’t have the car you reserved. Then when you want to cancel because they give you something else they say you can’t because you prepaid. What kind of BS is that? Only redeeming quality was the agent that was really nice and understanding. Basically told me never prepay because you’re SOL if you do.

I am writing to express my utter disappointment and frustration with my recent experience at your rental location, which was, without a doubt, the worst customer service I have ever encountered. I have been a loyal gold member for years, but this incident has completely shattered my trust in Hertz.

In May, I booked and prepaid for a 7-passenger vehicle to accommodate my family during our trip to the Bay Area. Despite having already paid in full, I was informed upon arrival that I could not pick up the vehicle because I no longer had the original credit card used for the booking—a card that had since been replaced. This is an absurd policy, especially when I was able to provide an alternative card from the same issuer and other forms of identification.

Instead of offering a solution, your representative provided nothing but unhelpful directions to three separate customer service numbers, all of which were closed, leaving us completely stranded. The suggestion to cancel our reservation (which was no longer possible) and book a new one at more than double the original cost was insulting, given the circumstances. Ultimately, we were forced to rent a smaller, inadequate vehicle and pay twice for a service we never fully received.

This is unacceptable. Not only did this experience ruin our plans, but it also highlighted a total lack of empathy, flexibility, and professionalism on your part. For a company that prides itself on customer loyalty and satisfaction, this was a complete failure.

Service levels for Hertz has steadily declined at this location. Does not keeps any "luxury vehicles" at this location after was reserved 3 to 4 days ahead. While they supposedly upgraded me the morning ahead of picking up my vehicle they gave me a hybrid vehicle with all electric functions disabled. This was a lowest model of a hybrid vehicle which was a gas only option.

Asked for a different vehicle instead of a fake hybrid and representative belasically forced me to take the vehicle or get a much lesser vehicle (economy class).

Hertz obviously suffering after buying too many Telsas. Used to be the gold standard of car rentals and now just a shadow of itself.

Our car rental experience was smooth from drop off to pick up. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The manager personally drove us back to the terminal in the rental car after we dropped it off. Everything was online so we didn’t have to wait in any lines.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. INCREDIBLY SHADY AND UNRELIABLE. I booked a car at this hertz and after taking a $30 dollar uber ride to the location to pick up the car was told they had no vehicles available even though I had a reservation. I then had to spend another $30 dollars on an uber ride back home. It was still showing they had cars available, too, when I checked back at home later that day. On top of all that, after I spent $60 on uber rides and wasted several hours they had the audacity to charge me a $15 "no show" fee when I most definitely showed up to pick up a car they didn't have for me even though I had a reservation. Worst rental experience ever.

Come here if you want the WORST Customer service.

My family and I had a car reservation and were visiting California for a funeral.

Upon arrival, the car was no longer available.

The front desk staffed was beyond unhelpful. Short tempered and rude.

Would not honor or accommodate a car of equal value to the reservation.

The young lady had absolutely no sympathy and was absent of any moral character.

Came in July 13th 2024 at 10:30 AM at Hertz Rental Car Agency.

Was charged $65.94 and more than a week later have still NOT been refunded.

Absolutely unbelievable.

The managers at car rental in Oakland international very well informed getting in and out was very quick. I recommend these gentlemen as good staff. I don’t like San Jose international airport. The man does not understand his job. Doesn’t understand the nuances of his job description and his vault this is San Jose international manager

They are also (poorly) handling the desk fit Dollar and Thrifty. I had a confirmed reservation at Thrifty. I am now waiting over an hour because they overbooked the rental cars and none are availability. The agent was very short tempered and rude, and even yelled at other customers. They also put an extra $200 hold on my card as a "deposit" which was not in my rental contract. Avoid if possible!
