This is by far the absolute worst Hertz location we have ever "tried to use". Their 3.6 rating should have been a clue to stay away. On the night of 12-10-24 we had a reservation to be picked up about 9:00pm. Ourselves and a few others stood on the curb for over 1.5 hours waiting for a pick-up. Every other car rental agency came by about every ten minutes. Not one Hertz bus ever showed up. No one ever picked up the phone that rang dozens of times by our small group now. The 800 line was another joke, some offshore idiot that just wanted to rent us a car! But would not deal with our being stranded problems. So after 1.5 hours we jumped in a cab to our hotel. As we left the terminal we asked the cab driver to go by the Hertz lot. They were open (till 12:30am) their busses all sitting in front of their office. Called to make sure we were not charged in the morning (800 line). The agent was condescending and implied we were making it all up! Hertz, you have lost your way, you will never see us again. And they wouldn't even consider paying for our taxi and bringing us a car the next morning.

And Hertz, don't bother with your auto cut and paste reply! I'll do it for you: Hi, XXXXX. We’re extremely sorry to read about your experience at our Hertz Houston Hobby Car Rental location. This place is a total joke. We fly in get to the rental facility and no cars . We reserve a car and nothing on the lot. We were told to bad. Don’t waste your time with Hertz. Save your self some time and use a different company. Hertz staff at this location have zero customer skills. I’m not sure why you have a reservation and they don’t have a car ready. To top it off we are A gold star member with Hertz. Do not use Hertz.

This place is unprofessional and dishonest. I would strongly advise against using it for business trips.

Upon arrival, I was told there was no place to drop off my personal car. I had to find a separate parking lot, take a shuttle to the airport, then shuttle back to the rental car pick-up area. Despite seeing plenty of empty parking spaces, I was told I wasn’t allowed to park there, even though I was willing to pay.

When I returned my car, I noticed a $30 toll credit had been mistakenly applied to my account. Since I never use toll roads, I asked if it could be removed. They told me nothing could be done. I then asked what would happen if I drove through a toll without the credit, and they said they'd just bill me separately. I explained that I wouldn’t use any toll roads, but if I did, I wanted to be billed directly. They refused to accommodate me.

Next, I realized that the wrong credit card had been charged. Instead of using my company card, they charged my personal card. I asked about fixing it when I picked up the car, and they told me I’d have to call customer service. The hold times were excessively long, and when I finally got through, they said the change could only be made in person. Upon returning the car, the employee at the desk—who seemed inexperienced—tried to switch the payment method, but the credit card machine didn't register my new card. He assured me everything was fine, but I wasn't prompted to confirm anything. When I asked for confirmation or a receipt showing the switch, he provided a receipt where he had written "MC" (for MasterCard) to make it look like the card was changed, even though it wasn’t. Now I’m stuck paying for a business trip out of my own pocket and will have to call Hertz again, wasting more time on hold.

I recently started a new job as an engineer with frequent travel, and this was my first business trip. I can confidently say I will never use this Hertz location again.

Easy check-in/check-out...agent was nice and friendly. Never used Hertz b4 so it was nice to get good customer service. Will use in the future when traveling thru airports. Prices were cheaper than I had found shopping around. Only thing is car could of been a little cleaner inside. Found apple juice bottle under seat, etc...itsme itsme

Last Friday night we landed late and waited over 40 minutes for the Hertz shuttle bus at Hobby airport. Fortunately, I was first in line when we reached the facility, because they only had five cars left for six people in line, then three more customers arrived! I still waited another 45 minutes for the lone representative to complete my rental. He and the other employee at the exit were super nice (hence the 2 stars). They said some employees didn't come to work. Hertz used to be a respectable brand, but DO NOT rent from the location at Hobby airport.

Waited an hour for my car to be ready. Feels like that's poor service seeing how they took my money weeks ago when I made the reservation and knew what time I would arrive. Also the checkout process was weird. When the vehicle was ready they just said "your car is outside", didn't walk me to it, I was unsure if I was just supposed to drive off but when no one came I just got in the car and started driving but then when leaving the parking lot is when they did the checkout/mileage/fuel thing. Not bad just weird.

Oralia, was a savor to my day at the hobby airport, being that I was frustrated with the back and forth with customer service and Westheimer location. She was able to successfully get my money returned on a pre paid rental being that I was told to come over by a rep on the phone and I came from another location who didn’t call or tell me that they did not have any cars! All in all there is more she was able to help me and I would recommend having a better attitude will get you a long way. (In my case she was polite and I was polite to get positive results)

Horrible Service – No Accountability and Theft

I am beyond disappointed with my experience here. It has been over 8 months, and I am still waiting for someone to address the theft of my belongings and the unauthorized use of my credit cards—clear cases of identity theft. Despite providing physical evidence, filing a police report, and tracking my stolen devices to this location, I have received nothing but excuses and runarounds.

I reached out to the hotline multiple times, visited in person, and even tried contacting Chris Young, the manager. Not once did he return my calls or emails—I had to follow up constantly. To make matters worse, the staff initially denied that my car ever arrived at their location, even though the tow company confirmed it.

This experience has been nothing but frustrating. I am tired of being told to “reach out” with no real help or accountability. If you value your belongings and your peace of mind, I would strongly recommend avoiding this business.
