Äußerst erfreuliche Abwicklung!! Zur Übergabe und Rückgabe kam eine sehr freundliche Mitarbeiterin pünktlich zum vereinbarten Treffpunkt am Bahnhof. Hertz hat in Bregenz keinen Schalter - die Formalitäten werden unkompliziert und rasch beim Auto erledigt. Ein Zusatzplus- das Auto war neuwertig und hatte auch eine Vignette für die Schweiz! Hertz bietet Service mit ❤️!

it's right, there is now "office" for Hertz, but the booking and car delivery is very well managed by the people of the nearby Dornbirn office.
Organized by phone a day before, and the car is delivered right at the train station.

All of the things Stu Williams mentioned are correct.
I will add to this:
I rented a car from Graz in the morning and wanted to give it back in Bregenz at 10pm, I informed the Hertz team of this.
Once arriving in Bregenz, there is no Hertz office, no signs, no instructions whatsoever as to where to leave the car or with whom I should talk. After trying to reach someone by phone, which of course was not possible I tried calling hertz in vienna airport (only open station at that time), who told me they were not responsible. After searching for 2 hours for any type of hertz sign or mention of hertz at the address (somewhere in the train station apparently?) that was given to me on the official renting agreement I finally gave up. Of course all the phone numbers hertz gives you are not reachable at 10pm....
All of this feels like a huge sham.

For anyone that uses this place in the future
1. There is no Hertz office here (2023)
2. There are no Hertz signs anywhere
3. You return the keys by handing them into the platform 1 security desk, who while helpful you get the impression they don't want this added responsibility
4. Because there were no Hertz staff the vehicle was not checked over, so film it yourself including the dashboard to get the mileage/kilometers, fuel level and to show no warning lights etc.
5. There is a main carpark at the front of the station (not where the buses park and where Google takes you). There is a barrier carpark there with a swing arm that you park in but the best bet is talk to the security person first and they will show you where to park. You also leave the key with them
6. You can call hertz but it took a while for them to answer and the staff member is not on site.
7. Give yourself 30 minutes to achieve the above
8. Reference; we hired a car from Vienna and dropped to at Bregenz after 7 days
