The tires were bald, and one of the tires kept losing air, so we had to stop and fill it. Low profile tires should never be put on a rental car. All four tires looked like whoever had it before us must have curbed them. The car needed to be cleaned. When I pointed it out, the employee told me to go ahead and take it to the car wash, and they would return my money when I bring the receipt in. Don't recommend using Budget. They are not very customer service friendly.

Rip off! Overpriced and hidden charges. Please read the contract before tapping your credit card. Front staff give false information. Also they did not give clear instructions on the location of after hours key drop box. I had to drop the car and come back again to drop the key next day. Last thing I want on my holiday is the stress of going through this drama. After calling them several times and filling out complaint form nothing happened and they refused to return the extra charges I paid. I regret renting a car through Hertz. Never again! Do not recommend them!

Despite experiencing some issues with the EV (Mach E) we rented, which required an exchange at another city’s Hertz location, our overall experience with this Hertz's customer service and management was absolutely positive.
They were very accommodating and quick to address our concerns. Even though we had a negative experience at another branch while exchanging the car, this center promptly answered our call and resolved the issue over the phone!!
Upon our return, the management and staff were extremely helpful in addressing the issue and providing a refund for the days of the malfunctioning car.
I really appreciate the customer service here!

Smaller airport without the Gold board listing elite members' names. Everyone has to check in at a desk to get a PRE-ASSIGNED car.

Take the elevator down to level 0 for all rental car companies.

Was I checked-in promptly, were the rates reasonable and did I received the car I reserved (or a better model)? Yes.

However, the check-in representative seemed unfriendly and generally unhappy. She tried to upsell Hertz insurance asking "will you be covering the vehicle with the premium, advantage or standard Hertz insurance"? Huh? How about asking me if I wish to add ANY insurance rather than use my personal AAA insurance. Yes, most rental car agencies pull this deceptive add-on tactic, but Alamo does not.....they ASK if you would like the additional coverage.

The check-in process was the same experience....unfriendly and generally unhappy Hertz representatives. No hello when I pulled in, no questions about "how was the car, any problems, etc". AND, I had to ask for a return receipt.

Just a heads up to consumers using Hertz, when you prepay for a car and select a time for pick up, that means NOTHING! My husband and I waited to be helped, standing outside, as we were not to enter until we were called. When we arrived, there was only one person inside helping customers. When it was our turn to enter, it had been 20 minutes outside. We entered, checked in with the associate at the counter, and was informed that we would have to wait awhile for a car. When I asked, what's a while? The associate way vague, I asked again, what is a while? We were to meet our daughter for breakfast. I had to ask him again, are we talking about 30 minutes, an hour? He went to the back to find out from someone. When he came back, we were told, 30-45 minute wait. So here my husband and I sit waiting for a car we prepaid to pick up at 9:15am.
I will not use Hertz or refer them to anyone I know, and I know, and talk to a lot of people.

I am not a happy customer

I've use Hertz to rent vehicles when traveling before, but this is the last time I'll use the location at John Wayne Airport. We booked through Priceline; everything went fine there. Upon returning the vehicle, there was a tiny amount of sand in the car. I mean really tiny, we didn't bring our kids with us this time, it was just a little from our feet. Even though the car would easily be cleaned via a routine vacuuming and wipe down, which they should be doing in between rentals, we were hit with an additional $100 indicated extra cleaning needed. I reached out to Hertz about it when it happened and received no response. If the car were truly returned dirty, I wouldn't have any issue with this at all; but this smells more like a scam operation targeting visitors to Santa Ana. Shame on Hertz. I'll dispute the charge if I don't hear from them very soon.

EDIT: I've reached out to Hertz about this issue, and while I still think the employees in Santa Ana are scum, because they are, Hertz as a company did make it right by dropping the erroneous $100 cleaning charge.

Not to many times I feel compelled to post a complaint. I have been a Hertz Gold Member for over 30 years. I recently tried to extend a Customer Satisfaction Certificate by one-day, without success. The certificate expires on 10/8, and we have a rental on 10/9. The response I received was, "based on our T&Cs we are unable to extend the certificate." We received the certificate because of customer service issue with an EV. There has to be a better customer service answer right? Come one Hertz.
