Very professional and helpful. Booked Innova Crysta for our 10 days journey from Srinagar to Gulmarg to Kargil to Leh to Nubra to Pangong to Leh. Vehicle provided was very well maintained and clean. Really want to thank the 2 drivers - Hassan and Thundup. They were very professional and took care of all our needs, stopping whenever we asked them. The coordinator Mr. Joldan was also very humble and always a phone call away. Himalayan Shepherd made our trip a grand success. Highly recommended!

We had a memorable and thoroughly enjoyable travel experience in Ladakh, thanks to Himalayan Shepherd.

A 7 nights stay itinerary was customised for our group of 4.

Highlights:

1. The tour began with a hiccup, as flight delays resulted in us being unable to reach Leh on the scheduled of arrival. Kudos to Stanzin Dorjey (Founder of Himalayan Shepherd) for graciously managing the situation and accommodating a 1 day postponement right through the itinerary, including all hotel bookings, at no additional cost!

2. The Hotels at Leh, Hunder and Pangong were well chosen for us, suited to our requirements. We were advised to opt for MAP Hotel bookings, which again worked very well for us. At each Hotel, we were made to feel special... while one should attribute this to the general Ladakhi culture + Hotel staff's attitude, the Himalayan Shepherd team also contributed to the special feelings. We had a point of contact, Jimmy, who kept track of our day to day well being through regular calls and WhatsApp messages, besides meeting us in person on Day 1.

3. Another special mention, this one for our guide throughout the trip - Rigzen. He chauffered us on all 8 days in his own, almost brand new Innova Crysta. He would always report before time, his driving and travel guidance being par excellence. A man of few words, absolutely trustworthy.

In summary, our preference to choose a local Ladakh based tour operator paid us rich dividends. To be honest, we were skeptical till the time we first interacted with Rigzen and Jimmy in person. But now, having completed a memorable 7 nights stay in Ladakh, there is absolutely no hesitation in strongly recommending Himalayan Shepherd to anyone considering a Ladakh trip.

We just had the most wonderful Leh-Ladakh vacation thanks to Mr. Dorjee and team ! He had been extremely efficient in managing all our requirements and ensured we had a fantastic and memorable trip.
Our initial plan was to go to Leh via Srinagar-Sonmarg-Zojilla, but incessant snow and continuous bad weather put us in a spot.I had to cancel my Srinagar flight from Mumbai just a couple of hours prior to the flight and was in an absolute fix as our hotel bookings of Srinagar and Sonmarg were already made. Mr Dorjee managed to immediately get us an early check-in at Leh and also managed all hotel cancellations without any hassles or penalties as we directly flew in to Leh.
Our hotel Ladakh Retreat had the best views, especially recommended are the rooms on the second floor! It is a very comfortable property and the food was excellent.Staff at all times go the extra mile to ensure a pleasant stay.
The entire itenerary was meticulously planned and I couldn't have done this better myself! Being an exceptionally remote destination at all times we felt safe and the Himalayan Shepherd team was very resourceful to manage all our travel needs.
On our way back from Pangong, we had a vehicle engine failure enroute Changla pass, while the weather turned foul and it started to snow. It was an unnerving situation for the whole family, as we had elders and my 8 year old son along. Mr. Dorjey immediately managed to get us to safety by arranging a local vehicle which took us to Tangtse, Pangong Residency,the nearest and only available hotel, managed some hot food and also a comfortable stay for the night. We woke up to a complete whiteout, it snowed the whole night and what a wonderful surprise for us all! We experienced our first snowfall while enjoying some really sumptuous parathas for breakfast!
Ladakh surpassed all our expectations and it was an adventure of a lifetime. It is a very challenging destination and the weather can get very unpredictable at times, it's been the best decision to be completely guided by Himalayan Shepherd and Mr Dorjey had been our perfect host. We will look forward to coming back soon and would highly recommend the Himalayan Shepherd team!
